Whale

What is Whale?

"Whale" is industry slang for a high-spending user on cam sites—someone who tips large amounts and frequently buys private shows or other premium features. The term is used on live cam and adult cam platforms by performers and regulars to describe their biggest supporters.

How the term fits into cam site culture: whales are the viewers who spend significantly more than average. They might tip hundreds or thousands of tokens in a session, take frequent private shows, or subscribe to every fan club they follow. Performers often give whales extra attention, priority for requests, or private perks as a thank-you. The word isn't negative—it's a recognition of heavy support. From a platform perspective, a small percentage of users (whales included) often account for a large share of revenue. The best cam sites balance rewarding big spenders with keeping the experience good for casual tippers and lurkers too.

If you're a high spender, you might hear yourself referred to as a whale in community slang. For more on community and spending, see our entries on tipping, private show, lurker, and token.
